Transition to 2009 - Annual Meeting
"I cannot think of any other time when belonging to, and participating in, an organization like the Chamber has been more important. Because of the uncertain economy, it is imperative that we all stick together, help each other, buy locally when we can, and be a resource for each other."

In recent years, voters have rejected a variety of local option taxes. This year, Barre City briefly considered a business personal property tax or a business registration fee before simply including increased funding for economic development within the municipal budget. Berlin has begun looking at a local sales tax.
